WEST OF SCOTLAND BOYS - Easton takes Matchplay title whilst Maclean wins Strokeplay

West Of Scotland Boys Champions
Stuart Easton (Matchplay) & Chris Maclean (Strokeplay)
Stuart Easton (Irvine GC) is the 2013 West Of Scotland Boys Matchplay Champion, winning the title on Wednesday 10th July at Eastwood Golf Club.

In the final, Easton faced the top qualifier and new West Of Scotland Boys Strokeplay Champion Chris Maclean (Clydebank & District) who had taken the strokeplay crown on Monday 8th July over the same course.

In the morning semi finals on Wednesday, Easton was one down with three to play against Colin Edgar (Cochrane Castle) before edging through at the first extra hole, whilst Maclean eased through to the final with a convincing 6 & 5 win over Robert Johnston (Helensburgh).

In very warm and sunny conditions, both players produced some excellent play in the final on Wednesday afternoon, with the match finely poised at the turn at all square, with both players recording level par returns for the outward nine.

Birdies were required to half the tenth hole but Easton edged ahead at the eleventh when Maclean found water from the tee and a birdie three at the thirteenth extended Easton's lead to two before closing the match out at the seventeenth hole with a 2 & 1 victory to take the title.

At the conclusion of the sporting and friendly final, both finalists were presented with the trophies they were successful in winning during the week's competition.
